People and hiring

Crew up without the spreadsheet.

Everyone on the production is in one list with their position, the days they’re booked, held or penciled, their rate and their paperwork. If you still have a position open, post it and crew who work that job in your market hear about it. Whoever is booked for a day is on that day’s call sheet and board.

  • Days, holds and pencils. Book people by the day and the call sheets, board and budget follow along.
  • Post open positions. Your contacts first, then the network. Confirm who you want and they’re booked.
  • Paperwork. Your deal memo, filled in for each person and signed from a link.
Northwatch’s open positions: a Second Assistant Camera and a Set Costumer not sent yet, and a Dolly Grip posted with five applications, each with Pass and Confirm and book.
Porch Light’s Dolly Grip job on a phone: $650 per day in Nashville, the day it’s needed, and the form to apply.
How it works

From the first hire to the call sheet.

  1. 1

    Add the people

Add them by hand, import a crew list or bring them in from your team’s contacts.

  2. 2

    Book their days

Book, hold or pencil each person by the day, and open positions for anything you still need.

  3. 3

    Send the paperwork

Ask for their details and send the deal memo, then see who’s done it and who to chase.
