ProProduction facts
What ProProduction is and does, one fact a line. Checked against the app on October 29, 2026. Prices are in US dollars.
What it is
- ProProduction is web software for planning and running film and video productions, from the script to wrap.
- It connects the script, Shot List, lighting setups, Schedule, call sheets, a live board for the shoot day, people, locations and the budget in one plan.
- It runs in a web browser on computers, tablets and phones, at app.proproduction.app. Crew don’t install anything.
- It was built by a filmmaker for their own shoots, then opened to other filmmakers.
- It is run from Tennessee, United States. Contact: hello@proproduction.app.
Who it’s for
- Short films, features, commercials, music videos, documentaries, branded content and YouTube channels.
- Church and school media teams, film schools, and production companies with several teams.
- Directors, producers, assistant directors, cinematographers, camera assistants, DITs, grip and electric, art departments, cast and crew. Each has their own part of a project.
Where it’s different
- Cameras are controlled from the production board: record start and stop, ISO or EI, shutter, white balance and tint, and frame rate, depending on the body. 31 of the 108 camera bodies in the lookup can be run this way.
- Each take stores the camera’s settings (ISO, shutter, white balance, tint, ND, frame rate, codec, timecode and length). On ARRI, RED and Blackmagic it also stores the clip name, fetched after the cut.
- Lighting setups are drawn to scale in meters on a plan of the real building: corners, walls, doors, windows and outlets.
- Cable runs go around walls and through doors and openings, never through a wall or out of a window.
- Each circuit adds up its load against the breaker: capacity is volts × amps × 80%, with 120 V and 20 A as the defaults, a warning at 80% and “over” past 100%.
- Setups make a stinger list in 25, 50 and 100 ft lengths with 10% slack, and runs that stay close together share a splitter.
- A camera on a setup draws its real field of view from the gate width, focal length, speed booster and anamorphic squeeze.
- One plan runs the whole way: the script makes scenes, scenes get shots, shots go on shoot days, days become call sheets and the live board, and the board feeds the reports and the budget.
Every feature in a line
- Live production board: The shoot day minute by minute on every phone: the AD runs it, each department reads its part, and every take is logged as it rolls.
- Call sheets and check-in: A personal call sheet for every person, built from the day. Send it by email or link, see who opened and confirmed, and text it from your phone.
- Schedule and Strips: Shoot days as cards with their call, location and length against a 12-hour day, shots dragged between days, a stripboard, and one-liners that print.
- Script, breakdown and Play-Through: Import a PDF, Word, Final Draft or Fountain script, write the next draft, break it down with your own categories, and play the shots through the script.
- Shot List and storyboards: The Shot List in List, Board or Grid, frames on your camera’s real gate, and shot lists in and out as CSV or rows pasted from a spreadsheet.
- Locations and scouting: Script places tied to real locations, days that know where they are, call sheets and budget lines that follow, and scout photos with where you stood and which way you faced.
- Camera control and Remote Stream: Control ARRI, RED, Canon and Blackmagic cameras from the board, keep clip names matched to takes, and stream the picture to the crew.
- Lighting setups and set pieces: Top-down lighting setups drawn to scale in the real building, with real camera fields of view and fixtures, cable runs around the walls, circuit loads against the breaker and a stinger list.
- People, hiring and paperwork: Everyone on the production with their days, rates and paperwork, open positions posted to crew in your market, and deal memos signed from a link.
- Budget and costs: A top sheet from a feature, short or simple template, crew and cast costs straight from People, costs logged from any phone, and reports for the accountant.
- Organizations, teams and Enterprise: Organizations with several teams and their own projects, leadership who see everything, shared Spaces with booking warnings, your own web address, and Enterprise.
- Script import: PDF, Word (.docx), Final Draft (.fdx), Fountain and plain text, up to 12 MB of text. Export to Fountain or Final Draft. The five newest drafts are kept.
- Shot List: List, Board and Grid views; import a CSV or paste rows from a spreadsheet; export a CSV.
- Schedule: shoot days timed from the call against a 12-hour day, a stripboard, and one-liner and shooting schedule prints.
- Call sheets: built from the day; a personal link for every person with their own call time; opened and confirmed status for each person; a new confirmation asked for when their details change; sends scheduled from a minute to a year ahead; up to 500 people on a sheet.
- Nearest emergency room: picked automatically for a location from 4,205 US emergency hospitals, with the drive time.
- Weather on the call sheet: the National Weather Service’s hourly forecast, for US locations.
- Check-in: crew scan the set’s QR code and the board shows who has arrived.
- After wrap: each day’s takes export as CSV and as ALE for Avid and DaVinci Resolve.
- Budget: costs logged from a phone with a photo of the receipt, saved on the phone with no signal and sent when it’s back; the top sheet exports as PDF or CSV.
- Scene templates: 55 coverage plans in 11 groups, suggested for each scene by rules, with no AI. On Studio and Organization, and members’ own projects.
- Spaces: a company’s own studios and rooms, each with its building drawn once for every project’s setups. Two bookings of the same Space at the same time, or one person on two projects that day, get a warning, never a lock.
- Calendar: every call in a calendar feed, or as an .ics file.

- A deleted account or project is kept for 30 days so it can be restored, then purged.

AI
- AI is off unless you add your own Anthropic API key. ProProduction has no AI key of its own.
- With a key, AI can read a floor plan PDF into a building, read a shot list out of a PDF, and suggest a shooting order.
- Without a key, nothing is sent to an AI provider. Scene templates use rules, not AI.
